Axe Valley Vets System Upgrade
I have been working with MIUS since becoming a partner in 2004. Fraser and more recently Ashley have always been excellent representatives of their company. We have recently upgraded from our previous machine , an ATL HDI 3000, which whilst still producing acceptable images was beginning to show signs of old age. The images produced by the Philips Ie-33 need to be seen to be believed. Our young vets have gained so much confidence so quickly in their imaging skills. Having great kit gives them the job satisfaction they crave instead of feeling the need to refer.
Mius have always understood that the cost of the machine has to be balanced with a level of service which keeps their machines working. No image no fee!
A recent visit to their site in Gloucester demonstrated their commitment to our industry in these challenging times.
CT or not CT? Now that’s a whole new decision

‘We recently used MIUS to help us upgrade the ultrasound system in our practice . They helped us choose a machine and set it up in our practice. After a few months use I realised that we should have gone for a higher spec model, MIUS’s customer service was excellent , they helped us choose the new model and swapped out the previous machine for a new one. I have always used them for our ultrasound needs because I find their expertise and after sales support to be first class.’

This is a great all round scanner (SIUI CTS 8800V Plus) for first opinion practice. It is simple to use with very good quality abdominal images. There is the option to add colour at a later date, if/when needed. The service and support provided by MIUS was excellent, from the first enquiry I made to the time spent providing training when the machine was delivered. The presets installed by MIUS prior to delivery have made getting the most out of the machine easier and quicker.

Here is our testimonial for the apogee 5300V after we’ve been using it for a little while.
In summary, we are absolutely delighted. The image quality has surpassed all of our expectations. We are having to revisit what is “normal” for an ultrasound scan, because we are seeing detail which we never could have hoped to see before. We thought our previous machine was good, well the SIUI absolutely blows it out the water.
The work flow with the touch screen is very nice to use (and easy to learn), and this is helped by he freeze pedal, meaning more time spent scanning and less time spent typing. The calculations package is intuitive and outputs useful calculations on neat 1 page reports at the end of a scan.
We are mainly abdominal bias in this small animal practice with one vet who has an interest in cardiology, and the SIUI is a perfect balance. It covers both abdominal and cardiology work and it does it very well for our first opinion practice. It covers the full range of species from small furries to St Bernards from tendons to abdomens to hearts.
There are a number of fantastic ‘extra’ functions that the machine has that we have found to be a real bonus:
- it is on the practice network (easy to set up) meaning that with 1 button press on the machine, it will save a patient image in a folder in our network drive titled with the patient number so we can then quickly attach it to clinical records and show clients
- The panoscope function (panorama) has proved very useful for eg tendon scans
- I have set it up to print to one of our office network printers, meaning that I can press 1 button to get my cardiology report, then press print, and a 1 pages summary report of the scan outputs in the office. Another button press and the same report saves as a digital file in the patient’s folder on the network hard drive
- image backing up is easy, we back them up on the practice network hard drive. However another option is to put in a USB external hard drive and back up to that. Either way the workflow again is intuitive and easy to learn and work
- the cross beam and tissue enhancement imaging speckle reduction functions are proving very useful with visualising challenging items, such as seeing round corners with bladder and gall stones allowing almost a full 2 dimensional measurement of the whole stone to be achieved.
Finally, the support on install day and since from you and from the whole MIUS team has been (and still is) absolutely top class, we regularly recommend MIUS to anyone who asks us, and will continue to do so.

Having bought an ultrasound machine about eight years ago from Mius and been happy with the pre and post sales service I approached them again when an upgrade was due. We were offered a refurnished Philips HD11 XE scanner which we compared carefully with new machines in a similar price bracket. We felt the Philips was much more intuitive to use than the new machines we looked at and gave exceptionally good image quality. The machine has good facilities and a useful online help system for those occasions when we cannot remember which button to press! It is easy to return to its preset state if our explorations lead us into deep water and the machine has rekindled our interest in diagnostic imaging. I have again been very happy with the advice and service I have received from Mius and would enthusiastically recommend them to any practitioner wanting a good ultrasound machine at a reasonable price.

We have just purchased a Philips HD11 ultrasound machine. I have an interest in cardiology but it is a first opinion practice therefore we need the scan to cover all areas. So far we have found the quality and ease of use of the scanner to be excellent and the installation help was very good getting us to a point of confident use very quickly. We have been able to identify eggs in a gecko and I’ ve just diagnosed a live pregnancy in a small hedgehog along with checking a cats heart and several liver scans all recorded and archived easily.
This scanner is a huge step forward and the sales team have done a really good job in advising us so that we have exactly the model which fulfils our needs.

My practice had an old portable ultrasound machine that was about 12 years old when I decided to upgrade, we bought a reconditioned HP sonos 5500 and found that it has had a hugely positive impact on my practice. We’ve gone from doing just the odd pregnancy scan once every few weeks to one day doing four cardiac scans, including Doppler, and discovering regurgitant heart murmurs that we didn’t know existed before doing the scan.
As a result of the purchase, we are doing far more ultrasonography, and have improved immensely the quality of our ultrasound for our patients and clients, the vets have felt confident with more precise diagnosis and the nurses have been fascinated by the images that these technologies reveal. The financial transaction with MIUS was straightforward and I can confidently state that we have re-couped the cost of the purchase in the first year.

My practice recently purchased a Sonos 4500 reconditioned ultrasound machine from Mount Ultrasound Services. The purchase was influenced by our experience at their recent open day when we were shown around their impressive facilities. I was reassured that , should we purchase from Mount Ultrasound, the service and backup facilities would be there to ensure a trouble-free service life for the equipment. My colleague and I were also impressed by the enthusiasm and knowledge of the staff. The unit was installed on schedule with minimum disruption, and there was an enlightening “hands on” introductory session during which we were able to scan a patient in heart failure using the Doppler facility with impressive results. I can wholeheartedly recommend Mount Ultrasound Services and I look forward to a productive relationship with them in the future.

This year we purchased a reconditioned machine from MIUS. The company’s representative, Fraser Yule, patiently helped us make the right choice according to our budget and anticipated needs, and we took delivery soon afterwards. Everything arrived in good order, and Fraser spent a good deal of time with us instructing us in the use of the machine. Subsequently we receive as much help as we need from him as we continue to push forward the limits of our ultrasound capability

MIUS helped us choose the right machine and probes for our practice and workload. Their staff set all the equipment up, familiarised us with the controls and tutored us on how to get the best images. As our experience, and questions grew they were always at the end of the telephone for any query we had. I would not hesitate to recommend them to any veterniary practice who wish to upgarde their ultrasound machine
